Guest Post: Kyoku for Men
2011
Sam and Paul created a bit of a stir back in December when they did a guest spot here on Just Nice Things. So, we bowed to reader pressure and I am delighted to tell you that they are back today.
This time reviewing Kyoku For Men grooming products, it’s over to the boys…
Sam:
Kyoku Electric Pre-Shave Optimizer (£11.50): Two words. Un Believable. Having spent many years hacking away with gels and foams that promise to make you enjoy shaving, it was time to test the latest contender, and in a pretty challenging enviroment…. the ski slopes.
Always one to avoid shaving before hitting the fresh air on piste, it was time to change my approach and risk it all.
While most foams often leave your face unprotected and sensitive, the Kyoku for men product provided a fully effective and close shave as well as conditioning the face to tackle any weather.
To achieve this end result, there is very little to do. Just spray the thin liquid onto your hands and apply. Then shave. It really is that easy, and produces exceptional results.

If I’m being honest the shave cream is so good I didn’t really need the razor repair balm but I tested it out anyway, and found that this Kyoku product is fantastic as well.
Cooling, soothing and great smelling it really does feel great when you apply it but as I said the Sake cream is so good that I didn’t really get the full benefit of the balm (apart from the fact that it smells like an exotic holiday cocktail) .
With so many shaving foams out there it is hard to improve on current products. however, the Kyoku achieves this effortlessly. After sampling so many products it is great to see that there is hope for us men after all.

Kyoku Lip Fuel (£11.00): First impression, ‘bit girlie”. Lip fuel is surely just another way of saying lipbalm, and perhaps not something to brag about over a frosty beer Photo courtesy of Kyoku.comin a filthy mug on a Friday night.
However, with such effective results, it is hard to deny the use! With a tingling sensation as soon as you apply it, the lip fuel provides long lasting protection against the cold weather, whilst softening the lips and leaving a fresh taste around the mouth.
The down-side of the product is the awkward shape of the tube, easy enough to fit into your pocket but it does stick out and make random searches from bouncers a little embarrassing! However, a good product overall and if men are looking for a lip soother, they would be hard pushed to find a more effective one.
Paul: Sake Infused Shave Creme (£25.00) “An advert once said that a particular shaving product was “the best a man can get” Well, I have to say that these advertisers had obviously never tried Kyoku. The Sake infused shave cream is quite frankly amazing. I have extremely sensitive skin and shaving is normally a real chore so definitely not something I look forward to.
However Kyoku has made shaving something to look forward to. It’s even a treat to have to wait 2 minutes after you apply it, why rush your shave? It has produces a slight tingle when you apply it but nothing that should put you off. The smell is a bit unusual but then again I’m not sure what Sake smells like. The best thing is the actual shave though, I use a bog standard Bic and to be honest the razor gilded through my stubble to produce a pain free, genuinely close shave. Even the troublesome part of my neck was no problem.
If you ladies are looking to treat your partner to an awesome present then Kyoku is perfect. Christmas/birthdayValentine’s /anniversary should be easy now!
Thank you to Paul and Sam! More information on Kyoku products can be found here, where an offer is currently running to buy three products and get 20% off the total. Marvellous!

I do like the sound of that Sake shaving cream for Mr London, I’ll have a look for that next time I’m in Liberty.
Also, Sam and Paul are back! This is A Very Good Thing.
Ah, the boys are back in town!
Good, informative review. Though I am a bit worried, just how often does Sam get searched by bouncers?!
Just what I needed on a depressing Monday afternoon! I have no man to shop for but still really enjoy these reviews for some reason ;o) xx
I love Kyoku products and I don’t care if they are for the guys! I’ve reviewed the lava mask and exfoliator and they are both quality. Going to get some more stuff this year too.
I don’t have anything constructive to say, I just wanted to come and stare at hot men.
Job done.
The men in my family are knuckle dragging neanderthals and so these products aren’t really my bag but I had to say “Hello Boys!” woof woof!! xx
Can I have a US version of Paul?
Woooooooooooooo! They’re back! You need to have them review a spa chest waxing experience of something. Something with shirtless photos! *fans self* Oh, and I’m still waiting on an underwear review. Hell, I’ll pretend to be PR and send product if need be!
I love the sound of the Kyoku shave products…I actually prefer Jack Black lip balm over the Kyoku Lip Fuel (I think it lasts longer and is a better product having compared the two on myself!) but I definitely will add the shaving stuff to any men’s gift lists I might have coming up!
