We are a quarter of the way through the year (frightening, I know) but already 2017 has raised the bar with some beauties. I thought I’d share with you some of the products I am loving so far…
- Aldi Glass Candles (£3.99 each)
The lovely Vex in the City posted about Aldi’s new scented candles, which have been compared to Jo Malone’s. Coming in at a fraction of the price at £3.99 for a hefty 290g jar, there are three scents available – Pomegranate Noir, Freesia & Pear and Lime Basil & Mandarin.I grabbed all three which were swiftly delivered (free) from Aldi’s website. My nearest Aldi store in a few miles away but not particularly easy to get to. However their website now reports online stock has sold out so if you’re after one or all three, best to hot foot it down to the closest Aldi. The Freesia & Pear and Pomegranate Noir smell exactly like Jo Malone’s version (I have the fragrances) and I wouldn’t be surprised if Lime Basil & Mandarin bears a similarity to JM’s equivalent. The double wick candles look elegant and luxurious thanks to the packaging. Sadly the candles aren’t made of soya wax but that’s a small whinge for these impressive candles.
- L’Occitane Intensive Hand Balm* (£22)
The shea butter hand cream is my absolute favourite so it’s no surprise that L’Occitane’s Intensive Hand Balm is a winner in my books. It’s a more concentrated and intense nourishing treatment with 25% shea butter in it so the thick creamy balm tackles dryness with aplomb, leaving nothing but softness behind. Available from L’Occitane and Escentual.
- Jeffree Star Cosmetics: Androgyny (£40)
I had sworn I wouldn’t give into funding Jeffree’s desire to spray paint everything bubblegum pink but when I clapped eyes on his Androdgyny palette, I could not hold back. Faaaaaaaaaaack! It’s good! An epic mish-mash of bold colours that will shoo off the frail neutral obsessed wallflowers. This screams Jeffree Star and each pan is incredibly pigmented and buttery. Not even Urban Decay could match this. It’s worth every penny that makes up its £40 price tag and it’s available from Beauty Bay. I promise I will post a review on this.
- Nip + Fab Make Up Contour and Highlight Stroboscopic Palette (£15 each)
Nip + Fab has launched its make-up range which includes eye and face products. I haven’t looked at their foundations but I have been mesmerised by the Contour and Highlighter palettes. There are three Contour palettes available (light, medium and dark) and one highlighter palette. I went for Medium which at first reminded me of NYX’s Highlighter and Contour palette except Nip + Fab has 6 pans and all the shades are warm tones and I’m inclined to say Nip + Fab may just ‘nip’ ahead of NYX if I had to pick between the two based on tones and pigmentation. The Highlight Stroboscopic Palette is just…gah, so pretty and all six shades are wearable especially for warmer skin tones. Review coming soon. Meanwhile you can pick these up from Superdrug or Nip + Fab directly.
- Anastasia Beverly Hills: Glow Kit Nicole Guerriero (£39)
I bought my first ABH product (a palette) 5 years ago in Miami. Fast forward to the present and ABH is killing it with their palettes and largely responsible for getting me hooked on their Glow Kit highlighters (absolutely love Sun Dipped). I have my eye on Sweets and Aurora next but this collaboration with Nicole Nicole Guerriero (a US youtuber) is gorgeous. It borders on the glittery side but not that gritty texture (which I hate). Generous in size and pigmentation, and just beautiful. Available from Anastasia Beverly Hills priced at £39.
That’s all…for now. Have you tried any of the above? I do have my sights set on the Becca and Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette when that drops next month. Cannot wait!
