Chanel Particuliere - Just Nice Things

Chanel Particuliere

Read Time:2 Minute, 26 Second

I feel a bit like my blogs are like one long award ceremony acceptance speech at the moment. For this post, I’d like to sincerely thank The Asian Girl! Thanks to the wonders of the Blogosphere, I’ve actually had this polish for a week now – no mean feat considering it only hits UK counters today.

I had mentioned on Twitter that I was really hoping I could get my mitts on this, and the next thing I knew, a message arrived from The Asian Girl, who lives in the USA, saying that she had been to her local shopping mall to get this for herself, knew I wanted it, and picked me up a bottle too. How awesome is that? By the way – her blog hasn’t been updated in a while, but do follow her on Twitter: the_asian_girl.

So. The blogosphere is filled with some really exciting polish releases at the moment, but this one seems to be the most eagerly anticipated of them all. This is going to have a wider distribution than Jade, so I don’t expect them to be reaching ridiculous sums on eBay, but then again, you never know!

It would appear that Chanel has jumped on the You Dont Know Jacques / Over The Taupe bandwagon a couple of years later than OPI. At first, from the sneaky photos I’d seen, I thought this was going to be a dusty grurple, more along the lines of Metro Chic. But, no – it is essentially a brown.

Don’t get me wrong, it is a very nice brown shade, just perhaps not what I was expecting – I thought perhaps it would be greyer, or pinker. Having said that, you all know of my love for the mushroom shades and this doesn’t disappoint.

I’ve never used a Chanel creme polish before – all the others I have are jellies – and I was worried that it would be a bit sheer. In fact, it was the total opposite – it is very perfect. It applied in two coats only and there was no glooping or runniness whatsoever. It dries fast though, and did have a tendency to drag a little bit so you need to make sure you have plenty of polish on the brush when you get to the ends.

Particuliere is quite shiny but I completed it with Ciate’s Speed Dry topcoat (I’ve run out of Seche Vite and Nubar Diamont for the moment). The Ciate is the slowest drying topcoat I have but the whole manicure was touch dry in about 15 minutes, and had hardened within an hour.

In answer to the questions I know you’ll want to know! It is lighter and greyer than OPI You Don’t Know Jacques, and less creamy than Over The Taupe.

So what do you think? Are you pleased the taupe trend is here for another season, or are you done, and ready for Spring’s pastels?

I love this one, but I can’t decide if I should buy it! I don’t have OTT, is it quite similar? I’d rather spend less money and get OPI (I think they’re better than Chanel ones). I’m wearing Metro Chic today which I love, but it’s definitely a lot more purple.

Ugh I think you can guess what I think of this. It looks like sewage.

It’s really nice but I already own You Don’t Know Jacques and Metro Chic, so they are too similar to justify a purchase for me really. x

I have some serious lemmings right now and this is one of them, I also want Lancome’s Pop Petrol and some Lippman polishes(Yes unfortunately all of my lemmings are kind of pricy!)It looks great on you, The Asian Girl is a sweetheart, thanks to her I got my first Rescue Beauty Lounge polishes on their 50% sale

I actually prefer something a bit more mauve and a tad darker. I wouldn’t buy this but I am coming round to the greige trend and have Nails Inc Jermyn St (untried) with glitter and have ordered CG Channelesque but I’m not spending too many £sd on this kind of shade.

In all honesty…. I think you’d do fine with OTT. It’s not an exact dupe, and the application of the Chanel is better, but do you need to lay out the price of the Chanel? Probably not. if you frankened OTT & YDKJ you’d get the same effect!

    Hi Lisa,
Well – it’s in the shops now 🙂

It’s a million miles from Metro Chic but certainly closer to YDKJ.

I reviewed PP yesterday! You have good taste – even if it is expensive!
And yes, she’s awesome – how nice is that about the RBL? Wish it was more readily available over here. I dont have any Lippmann either.

Jermyn Street is really nice – I enjoyed wearing that when I reviewed it. I’ve seen the glittery version but don’t have it.

Where did you get Channelesque from? eBay? I love that and really want to get my hands on it. Discontinued though.

That’s odd, I always find that Chanel don’t apply as nicely OPI. Maybe Chanel have changed their formula with this one. I hope so, as I’ve always thought they weren’t worth the money before.

Yeah this applied beautifully. In fairness, so do the OPIs – the only rel difference would be that Particuliere was two coats and the OPIs are generally three. I only have Chanel jellies and I was pleasantly surprised by how nice the creme was.

That’s a gorgeous shade. I still have to buy YDKJ! I love the taupes also. I don’t think they’ll ever go out of fashion. Looks beautiful on you. Have you ever counted up all of your taupe shades? That was really sweet of The Asian Girl. The polish community is filled with wonderful sweet people.

Thank you!I just wish it wasn’t that expensive, I guess it’s not my fault I mean why on earth Chanel, Lancome etc went from pinks and reds to such gorgeous colours??
On their next sale you can ask a US friend to get them for you 🙂
Don’t even mention Lippman, I have some serious Lippman lemmings!

I’m just getting into the taupe trend so I want it to stay. 🙂
