Aquis Hair Lisse Luxe Hair Towel

This year’s humidity levels have been a bitch for my hair. Exasperated at the state and rate of frizz with my barnet, I have been trying to find a solution to my woes. After reading reviews of Californian brand Aquis Hair’s Lisse Luxe Hair Towel from Cosmetic Candy and Beauty Queen UK (two ladies who are profoundly honest in beauty blogging), I took a deep breath and paid £30 for a special towel that beats frizz down with a stick.

Let’s just pause for a moment here: £30 for a towel that is big enough to wrap around your head. £30! What was the matter with me? I wouldn’t fork out even half that much for a bath towel. This one measures 50cm by 107cm and comes in a fancy, plastic bag with a neon orange hair band.

The deal with this towel is the material it’s made of – Aquitex – a fabric woven from ultra-fine fibres which absorb the moisture from freshly washed hair and eliminate the need to forcefully dry it from rubbing. It’s 80% polyester and 20% nylon, and the towel is machine washable.

As a result of not interfering with the cuticles, frizz is reduced and drying time is accelerated. One of the causes of frizz is not drying hair thoroughly. When I have the time to spare, I will allow my hair to dry naturally to about 70% and blow-dry in sections just like a salon but realistically, I don’t have the luxury of that much time on a daily basis when I wash my before work. I can’t do it the night before as I wake up the next morning with it feeling greasy and wavy.

Moving on! The Aquis Hair Lisse Luxe Towel comes in four different colours (ivory white, pastel pink, lilac and grey) and in different sizes and textures, depending on hair type (long, thick, fine/normal, curly). It’s easy to wrap around and doesn’t come undone like a regular towel. It’s also lightweight but extremely absorbent, which is evident as when I remove it, it feels very damp.

The first time I tried this, it was on a day of extremities – hot weather, waking up late and getting on the tube after work. It seemed OK but it didn’t give me the results I had hoped for. Nonetheless I persevered and thankfully the weather has become cooler. Suffice to say the consequences of using the Aquis Hair Lisse Luxe Towel is so much better. My hair definitely dries in half the time (and thoroughly) and I’ve noticed the amount of frizz has been greatly reduced. My hair feels comfortable too and I have managed to resist washing it every day to every other day. Waaa, I have greasy roots, OK? In the long term, the damage inflicted from drying should be reduced so that means healthier and stronger locks.

From understanding how the fabric of this towel is beneficial and kind to the hair follicles and helped massively in drying, I no longer wish to go back to using a normal towel. Well, I need to get my money’s worth, don’t I? I’m actually contemplating getting another so I have one to hand while the other is in the wash. To think I had exhausted all options with anti-frizz hair products, different types of shampoos, serums, etc when a simple towel was the answer.
