Good morning, ladies, I have some news for you. Some of you may have picked up on some mysterious tweets yesterday. I couldn’t tell you sooner as I’ve had my mouth zipped up for a week but the cat is finally out of the bag: Boots has given its entire No7 range a radical facelift and you can see it for yourselves today. And when I mean ‘entire’ I am talking about new packaging, new colours, new products, new formulations and more noticeably new counters.

It’s been three years in the making and what you will see is a massive revamp with all of No7′s products – mascaras, eyeshadows, blushers, lipsticks, lip glosses – the whole caboodle looks slick and bang on trend with foundation championed as the biggie. Why? Well No7 have introduced a revolutionary new way to find your perfect foundation match.

The free No7 Foundation Match Made Service offered in 668 stores and over 1000 No7 advisors have been specially trained to map your skin through a handheld device, colour matching you with the correct shade from No7′s skin-true shades in just a few minutes. It looks a tad like a Wii Remote…well OK, not quite but it’s roughly the size of one. (I will post a picture of it as soon as I can!)

How many times have you been recommended the wrong match or what about when you’ve tried to pick one which turned out to be completely wrong? One of my friends recently had 3 different shades sold to her of the same branded product, leaving her unimpressed and confused. Unfortunately you can’t return foundation once opened and I imagine there are many disheartened ladies out there who’ve felt duped into buying the wrong foundation, often at a dear price. Well human error plays a part, not to mention the bright artificial lighting in stores. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, if your foundation shade is wrong, the rest of your make-up won’t sit well. I’m right, aren’t I? Perhaps this error will be a thing of the past if this service is anything to go by.

I had the device, which was gently pressed against the jaw line, to read my skin at a preview event last week and I was paired up with Deep Honey from the Stay Perfect™ range, which I’ve been wearing every day for a week. (I’ll let you know how it measures up in another post.) I will tell you this much, the match was spot-on and it was carried out in a room with no strong lighting or natural sunlight coming through.

I can also tell you there are over 80 No7 foundations in total available across 7 formats – Stay Perfect™, Lift & Luminate, Protect & Perfect, Restore & Renew, Beautifully Matte, Instance Radiance and Essentially Natural so there is something for everyone.

And there you have it. High street favourites Boots have something to shout about and I am sure many will be flocking to their stores. How do you feel about this news? If you manage to pop along to a No7 counter, let me know how you get on. I’m really curious to see how it works for you.

By the way, here are a few examples of how No7 have changed the design, packaging and overall appearance of their products…
