Last summer Bourjois bestowed its Rouge Edition Velvet matte liquid lipsticks upon us. For 2015 things have been taken to the next level with the Rouge Edition Aqua Laque*.

They come in the same packaging as the Rouge Edition Velvets but there are two distinct features: the high-shine chrome caps and the actual product itself. For the spring and summer seasons Bourjois has created a hybrid lip product that banishes the need for a lip gloss, lipstick and lip balm but keeps lips moisturised without compromising on colour.

The new formula is butter and wax-free, creating a liquid-like texture that gives a wet-look shine and goes on the lips smoothly yet doesn’t feel sticky or uncomfortable. What’s more, there are shades for everyone be it nudes, pinks, oranges or reds and as you can see, the colour output is pretty impressive.

From left to right, we have Rosé on the Rocks (02), Fuchsia Perché (07), Babe Idole (08) and Red My Lips (05). By the way there are eight shades in total!

I find the Aqua Laque adds a nice touch of colour, giving a natural appearance and you honestly forget you’re wearing it because it doesn’t interfere. However, the colour is not going to stay put on your lips like the Rouge Edition Velvet mattes but I suppose that is kind of obvious when they are essentially a highly tinted lip gloss and balm in one.

Due to its particular formula, Aqua Laque should be applied to cleansed, dry lips and not on top of a lip balm or it will just slide off.

Bourjois’s Aqua Laque is out now, priced at £8.99.
