EOTD with In the Light by Stila
2012
My cousins from Canada flew over to London at the weekend. They tell me it’s currently 27 degrees in Toronto. *weeps* Well we have finally seen some rays in good old Blighty this week and Stila’s latest new palette is the one to reach for in this fine weather.
Simply called In The Light, Stila’s collection of 10 shades for the eyelids consists of a range of neutral shades to suit different skin tones and eye colours, which can also be worn wet or dry, so you can go nuts with the bright lippy. In other words, it’s a nude palette but far more subtle than say, the Naked duo from Urban Decay.

They come in a pretty but fragile cardboard packaging (so not something to swish about in the handbag), inscribed with a quote from Stila’s Celebrity Pro make-up artist Sarah Lucero. Hello there, Sarah!

The shades are:
- Bare – matte ivory
- Kitten – shimmery pink champagne
- Bliss – matte beige pink
- Sunset – shimmery canyon pink
- Night Sky – blue with shimmer
- Sandstone – matte light coco
- Champagne – shimmery pale gold
- Glided Gold – golden brown with shimmer
- Luster – dark aubergine with gold shimmer
- Ebony – black
Any hoo, I had a play with some of the gold and brown shades and ended up with this:

I also took a leaf out of the miniature ‘look book’ the palette comes with (containing helpful tips on which shades to use to achieve particular looks) and opted for the ‘Smoky Luster’ look, which requires Bliss, Luster, Night Sky and Ebony to be swept and blended onto the eyelids.
It would not have occurred to me to reach for a light blue shimmer and combine with the other aforementioned shades for a smoky look but it has worked pretty well, maybe a little too soft for my liking and against my skin tone, but pretty nonetheless.

The eye shadows are easy to use with hardly any fall-out and I found the golds faired better for quite a statement on the eyes. Some of the shades demand a little more work to build up but all in all, if you can’t get enough of neutrals, then you will love this quality palette.
In The Light costs £25 and is available from Space NK and Stila’s newly launched website www.stila.co.uk.
