Maybelline Tasselled Taupe
2012

A quick post for you today, showing one of these rare Maybellines that are omnipresent in the USA, but exceptionally hard to find over here. I bought this one from a blog sale some time last year, as the mix of khaki and gold really called to me.
This has a sticker on it saying that it originally coat $3.99. I mean, that’s amazing. The quality of this is really good – it does lean towards the thick side and yes, the brush is gigantic, so a fair amount of clean-up would be required if you don’t have a particularly light and controlled hand.
This reminds me strongly of Estee Lauder’s Metallic Sage that was released for Autumn last year (that I do have in my collection…as yet unblogged about…) not that this really helps you as it’s going to be pretty hard for European readers to track down.
I just have two questions. 1) Why do we get the boring Maybelline shades in the UK? Surely we deserve better than just the sheer pinks and nudes and occasional purple that show up on the bottom shelf in Boots? And 2) Tasselled Taupe? What? McFly…

I absolutely agree about the Maybellines. WTF!
I like it, I would probably fall into the ‘lots of clean up’ category. Tasselled Taupe – not that catchy, is it?
Totally agree, why do so many companies either a) not bother selling here at all or b) only sell their most boring colours! This is a lovely colour
I bought a bottle of Tassled Taupe around 12 years ago so I’d be really curious to know if that’s an original bottle or a reissue. If that polish is back, I’d buy it again!
