Neom Organics has actually been known to me for a year or so. One of my friends went to a spa whilst pregnant, and had various Neom body oils used as part of her treatment. She was hooked, and for a time was selling Neom as part of their (no longer available) home party franchise.

I went along to support her, as you do, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that actually, the products are genuinely excellent. The idea behind the brand is that all the items are part of a particular scent family, and whichever one you are drawn to is the type of treatment that your body is calling out for. We had so much fun sniffing the candles and body lotions, and deciding which scent was the most appealing to us.

For example, I had an immediate positive reaction to the Tranquillity candle (containing lavender, sweet basil and jasmine), which apparently means that I was in need of some rest and relaxation. And do you know what, after burning this candle in the bedroom for a few hours prior to bedtime, I found I was experiencing the deepest and best sleep for a long, long time. It’s no great surprise that I’ve burned my way through two of the large versions of this. In fact, my husband now simply refers to it as “sleep candle”. We had to stop using it in the lounge as we found that we’d be falling asleep on the sofa!

These large candles have an estimated burn time of 55 hours and cost £37.50. Neom also recommend that you burn them for four hours at a time for the optimum results. They are made of vegetable oil and pure essential oil, so are safer to breathe in, and won’t turn your walls black!

I also purchased the Refresh candle. Where Tranquillity could be regarded as a “downer”, Refresh is very much an “upper”. Designed to get you up and about and feeling readyto face the day, Refresh is also apparently a good aid for sore throats and over-tired bodies. It made my house smell lovely. Did it inspire me to get up and on with the housework? Not so much. But I did feel fresher and happier.

The smaller travel candles have a burn time of 20 hours and work well in smaller rooms. They retail at £13.00.

I was recently sent Neom’s newest home candle to test out. Called “Inspiration”, it is scented with violet, chamomile and cedarwood, and is designed to make you feel inspired, confident and motivated.

I work in a sales office and when this arrived on my desk, the people on my team were flocking around wondering what the fantastic scent was that suddenly appeared when I opened the box. And that was before I’d even got the candle home and lit it! It does have a strong sandalwood scent and won’t be to everyone’s taste but after burning it for a few hours, I did feel less harrassed and generally calmer.
