OPI Texas Collection (Spring 2011) ~picture heavy~

So, I was lucky enough to be invited to attend the launch of OPI’s much anticipated collection for Spring 2011, OPI Texas. Whilst I know that we’re all still spinning from the fabulosity of Burlesque, and can’t even contemplate what we might be wearing on our nails in five months time, I’m sure you’ll be keen to see what OPI have in store for us. Attending this preview was like Christmas Day for me, a true OPI fangirl, and I was thrilled to be part of the fun.

So, apparently, the OPI Texas Collection is all about texture. From the glossiest cremes, to sparkly jellies to glass flecks, there’s a finish here for everyone. This makes sense to me, as there’s no real other theme to the collection, other than the names, of course.

So let’s get on with the photos, shall we?

Don’t Mess With OPI A lean, mean, kick-grass forest green. Don’t Mess With OPI reminded me of a yellower version of the green from Zoya’s Wonderful collection (Shawn, I think). Green lovers are going to eat this up – it looks soft, buttery, and a bit of a departure for OPI.

Austin-Tatious TurquoiseCowgirls love this bodacious blue-green. Austin-Tatious Turquoise isn’t really a turquoise. It’s a teal, with bright green glass flecks. It is outstanding and extremely pretty. Smoother than Zoya’s Charla and less foily than OPI’s Catch Me In Your Net. Very pretty and will look lovely on summer toes.

It’s Totally Fort-Worth ItA shimmery lavender grey that’s so worthy of you. This is my absolute hot pick of the whole collection. It is a silvery grey jelly that is jam packed with hot pink micro shimmer. Very delicate but unusual. I cannot wait to get hold of this and try it out. In fact, I’m ridiculously excited about this shade.

Do You Think I’m Tex-y? A “berry” sexy bloom of Dallas dahlia. Pictured above with Big Hair…Big NailsA rosy pageant peach. OPI berry cremes. They’ll sell by the truckload but there’s nothing new here for us groupies. I love the name “Big Hair…Big Nails” though – it’s me all over!

I Vant To Be A-Lone StarYou won’t want to share this starry Texas-sky blue. I Vant To Be A-Lone Star is apparently designed to be a “buildable sheer”. So we’ll see what this one is like when I get the chance to play with it. In the bottle it looks like a gorgeous grey – similar to OPI’s Give Me The Moon from the Night Brights collection, although perhaps with less irridescence.

Houston We Have A PurpleA galactic red-violet that’s ready to “rocket-roll”! We might have seen this before but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a stunning raisin coloured creme. I’d be tempted to buy this one – it is very classic.

Suzi Loves CowboysBut she loves this campfire chocolate shade s’more! Suzi Loves Cowboys struck me as a cousin of Suzi Says Da! from the Russian collection. A hair lighter, perhaps but not overly original if like me, you already have a drawer full of brown molten chocolate creme polishes.

San Tan-tonioA “honey” of a ten-gallon tan! This looks darker here than it is in real life – indeed, I was shocked when I saw this in daylight and realised that it was actually a very light fawn toned nude shade. I received this one in my goodie bag and am looking forward to swatching it. First impressions make me wonder just what skintone it will flatter – a strange one indeed.

Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘EmA red-hot pink-red that deals a winning hand. I don’t really have anything to say about this. It’s an OPI hot pink, warm toned creme, reminiscent of anything from 2009’s South Beach collection.

Guy Meets Gal-vestonAn “engaging” coastal coral. A very orange pink. Looks like a creme – I might prefer this if it at least had some gold shimmer in it.

Y’all Come Back Ya Hear? This Texas tangerine will be waitin’ for ya! Y’All Come Back Ya Hear? is a vibrant orange creme. Not that different to anything from the Paige Brights of 2009 but eyecatching and very Springlike.

Phew. That was exhausting, wasn’t it? But I’m not done. Oh no! Here are the swatches…

I was told that OPI keep spinning out these berry, and pink toned cremes as we all know they are always the crowd pleasers (aka best sellers). However – there is no core red here, which is extremely unusual for an OPI collection. There are some nice touches here for the polish fans who like something a little different. I am super excited about a couple of these colours.

And isn’t this promo picture gorgeous?

So, what do you think? Does anything here have your name on it? Are you excited about the prospect of the Texas Collection? Let me know – I’ve been dying to share this with you ever since I knew this collection was on the way. Yee Hah!

***The OPI Texas Collection will be available to purchase from February 2011, and will retail at £9.95 for a 15ml bottle from Lena White ***
