Maybelline has quite the glowing reputation for producing mascaras at very affordable prices. Let’s be real here, their arsenal of mascaras is a force to be reckoned with. The Volum’ Express Rocket is my favourite so when the latest one – the Push Up Drama* – was sent to me, hopes were strong.
I love the colours of the packaging – red, orange and black make a striking combination. That may sound trivial but to me it does stand out from the usual parade of black tubes and certainly fits the image of Maybelline.
Blatantly obvious from the moment you pull the wand out, the formula is very thick and wet though the bristles are very short. The amount of product loaded on the brush poses the threat of clumping and unfortunately Push Up Drama is a repeat offender.
The last thing you want to be doing is picking out the lumpy bits on the ends of your spidery lashes. That said, the results are dramatic – lashes appear thicker in a couple of swoops thanks to the cup-shaped bristles and the magical ingredient of Styling Wax to keep them from dropping. However, I couldn’t quite get close enough to the lash roots.
Maybelline’s Push Up Drama Mascara is available from Boots and Superdrug priced at £7.99.
