I believe it was supermodel Cindy Crawford who famously shrilled scrubbing coffee granules into her thighs rid her of cellulite. Hmm. This unassuming looking pouch could easily be mistaken for coffee but actually it’s a natural and organic scrub by Sister & Co and available from ASOS.

It’s a scrub right up my street because it’s coarse and draws out skin impurities but it’s messy…really messy. Let me get that warning out of the way first as this scrub not only makes your bath tub filthy, it also stains your skin from the charcoal BUT it gives you super smooth skin and boosts the blood circulation too. It’s best to use this before cleaning the bath or you will end up doing the job twice like I did. Actually, it’s not terrible – the scrub doesn’t stain your tub like some Lush bath crumbles do.

Any way, Sister & Co’s Raw Coconut and Activated Charcoal Sugar Scrub is not only a mouthful to say but packed to the rafters with ingredients including liquorice root, raw coconut sugar, pink Himalayan salt, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, peppermint and Australian lemon myrtle plant oils and of course, charcoal. Collectively all these ingredients help to polish off the skin, drawing out skin impurities, help heal breakouts and reduce inflammation.

With eco-friendly and lightweight packaging in the form of a brown paper bag resealable pouch, it’s not a sensible idea to take this into the bathroom so put couple of spoonfuls into a ramekin or plastic pot and massage into dampened skin.

It’s a very fine, granulated and oil-free scrub but as I mentioned, it’s coarse. I am not averse to a rough scrub but those with sensitive skin may feel cautious.

The charcoal stain is easy to wash off with a shower gel but the stain itself is a minor gripe as it makes for extra work to clean off and masks the scent of the scrub. That said, my skin felt so smooth after and absorbed moisturising products wonderfully without leaving a residue. The scrub is also suitable to use on the face.

If you have a holiday coming up, planning to fake tan or get your legs waxed, preparation with a decent scrub pays off. Sister & Co’s 100% natural and organic scrub is really effective, though some may consider it on pricey side at £23.95 for 300g. Personally I would buy this – it’s as good as getting scrubbed in a spa and a lot more convenient and cost-effective. I reckon this scrub would last about a dozen uses plus it is completely organic and natural. Because of this, the package has a use-by date of a year.

It does seem quite cost effective and I love all of the raw ingredients. Might give this a little go when I’ve lost my current holiday tan (because there ain’t no way I’m scrubbing that off!!)

Hi Katie, there are other scrubs from the range to choose from – I’m also interested in trying their other products. My tan is still going strong after 2 months! But I realise not everyone’s tans last. Let me know how you get on. Xx
