If you follow Grazia Daily Beauty, you may have noticed my recent product of the week was Eyeko’s Skinny Liquid Eyeliner in navy.
I’ve been using this quite frequently since it was sent to me to review. The word on Eyeko’s eyeliners is nothing but good so expectations were high.
So what’s the deal? The Skinny Liquid Eyeliner is actually a felt-tip pen with a stiff nib (oh!). It delivers a colour-intense look in a choice of five colours – jet black, navy, purple, olive and brown.
Black is conventional and classic but navy has the edge over its rival. Why? It brightens the whites of your eyes and although it is very dark, still stands out.
You use the nib to dot along the eye line and the side of the pen to sweep along the eyelids. If you’re used to a liquid liner or gel liner from a pot, you’ll find the felt-tip pen works far more differently. The nib is sharp but it seems to dry out quickly so you need to rely on the sides to deliver. I found myself shaking the pen rigorously with the lid on to get the ink flowing to the tip.
Also if you’re not particularly skilled at getting the liner perfect in one go then you may be frustrated at going over the same area more than once and making a pig’s ear of it.
Once on, it doesn’t budge – the swatch on my arm is still visible after 3 days! The liner also gives a gloss finish.
All in all, a decent product for those with sharp application skills.
Eyeko’s Skinny Liquid Eyeliner costs £10 and is available from Harvey Nichols, Selfridges and www.eyeko.com.
