I normally don’t trudge up to Oxford Street on a Saturday (ill-advised if you’re a Londoner) but I made an exception today.

Since yesterday Smashbox Cosmetics have taken over Boots’ large store near Bond Street tube station to celebrate their flagship launch by hosting a  makeover event. And when I mean ‘taken over’, I mean set up a mixing deck and a custom-built photography studio in the middle of the ground floor.

Smashbox first came over to our shores about 3 years ago (I think!) but was rather limited. Now that’s all changed with Boots taking the reigns and making the brand far more accessible – you don’t have to traipse into town to buy Smashbox, you can order online through Boots and either have it delivered to your home or your nearest branch.

Any way! I trotted up to the Smashbox Counter and was greeted by their national lead make-up artist and brand representative Janine Bird who set to work on rebuilding my face with Smashbox. After I was sat in front of professional high fashion photographer, Mike Blackett’s camera lens for my flashbulb moment.

It was an opportunity to try the range of products from Smashbox. My only brush with the brand has been for their sought-after Photo Finish foundation primer.

The full list of products Janine used on me were: Photo Finish SPF 15 Foundation Primer (designed for anti-ageing, £28), Photo Finish Hydrating Under Eye Primer (good for dark circles, £21), High Definition Healthy FX Foundation in L4 (£26), High Definition Liquid Concealer in medium dark (£17), Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder (£39), Halo Perfecting Bronzer (£29), Eyeshadow Trio in Quick Take (Vanilla, Ambient, Serpent, £21) and Limitless Long Wear Lip Gloss in Sheer Plum (£16). I decided to buy the foundation primer, under eye primer and the concealer. If you buy 2 products in Boots, you’ll get 500 bonus Clubcard points and this is valid until 24th December.

The ‘Click You’re It’ event is based at Boots Sedley Place, 361 Oxford Street (the one closest to Bond Street tube station) where you can receive a full Smashbox free makeover by their make-up artists and the opportunity to have your photograph taken by Mike Blackett. Following the shoot, attendees will receive a USB of professionally shot images that Mike has taken to keep, print and share digitally with friends and family.

To book a slot with Mike Blackett call Boots Sedley Place on 0207 491 2697 (ask to speak to the Smashbox counter) with your preferred time and someone from the Smashbox Crew will be able to confirm your time slot for you. If you want some company, you’re free to bring a friend, sibling or even your mum for the photo shoot but hurry as tomorrow (Sunday 28th October) is the last day.
