I don’t know about you but I get bored of my hair pretty quickly. I also have the kind of hair that misbehaves on a daily basis and tending to the same style every day becomes somewhat of a chore, so when Toni & Guy asked if they could help, I couldn’t think of anyone better to show me the ropes.

I was at the opening of London Fashion Week last September where Toni & Guy put on a spectacular catwalk show at Somerset House and I’m sure they have a few things up their sleeves for the next one which is just weeks away.

But back to the a couple of days ago in the depths of Shoreditch and on a gorgeous sunny day, I made my way to a warehouse where Toni & Guy had set up camp with their special HairMeetWardrobe workshop.

The concept behind the event was to explore where Hair Meets Fashion and to look at ways of getting that part of the styling puzzle right. With a range of new products just launched, Toni & Guy are sure you will find something to suit you be it casual, creative, classic or glamour.

Having short hair, there isn’t a lot I can do with it other than blow-dry and straighten for a sleek bob. I envy long hair because you can curl it, wear it up, do all sorts but what can you do with a bob? The only time I get to truly change my style is when I’m sitting in the salon chair. Yesterday was a chance for the Toni & Guy styling team to give me a few tips and show me step-by-step how to do different things with my hair in between salon visits.

My hair stylist Sabrina introduced me to Toni & Guy’s Sea Salt Texturising Spray, something I’ve ignored because I felt it wasn’t suitable for my hair length. When I’ve had long hair, it is naturally wavy especially after a day by the sea.

It’s recommended you spritz on dry hair to replicate the look of beachy wavy locks and the spray has a gorgeous soft, subtle fragrance. It can be used directly on towel-dried hair but the effects are less obvious as the dampness dilutes the spray’s potency.

So Sabrina spritzed some Sea Salt Texturising Spray (that’s a tongue twister) on my dry hair, blasted it with some hot and cold air while combing my hair forward. As a result, my bob was transformed into a fuller looking style with what appears to have more texture and thickness, concentrating on the ends.

It was an evening of having my hair and make-up done, a chance to rummage through the rails of clothes and try them on, and to my absolute horror, a photo shoot. I felt pretty awkward having my picture taken even though as a beauty blogger I use my face a lot so I ought to be used to the idea. Really I’m not. It’s different when someone else is taking your photo, isn’t it? Oh and it gets better – there is video footage currently being edited (with any luck my gurning and waffling will end up on the cutting room floor.) Any way, try to look past the awkward stance and focus on the hair!

I like my sleek and sharp bob though now I have the option to rough it up a little with the spray and also prolong not washing it every day like I normally do. Thankfully the product is so light and it doesn’t weigh my hair down like a regular hair spray would plus it gives my hair some movement as well. I do think I would have more fun with longer hair because as you can see, I don’t have any waves with a bob.  I am desperate to grow my hair long again!

I would like to say a big thank you to the team at Toni & Guy for looking after me. To find out more about Toni & Guy’s new collection visit www.hairmeetwardrobe.com.

Counting down to London Fashion Week
You might also be interested to know that with London Fashion Week approaching, Toni & Guy together with streetstyle blogger Facehunter, are inviting people to take a photo a day documenting their personal style, the things that inspire them and the looks they love through Instagram and Twitter. The challenge will begin on Saturday 1st September and will run until Friday 14th September, just as LFW kicks off with Spring/Summer 2013. To take part, don’t forget to include @hair_wardrobe (Toni & Guy’s Twitter account) and the hashtag #hairmeetwardrobe.
