If you had a £50 voucher to spend at Topshop, what would you buy?

That was the question put to me by Sheenie recently, to which I replied without skipping a beat, “Make-up, obviously!”

I am in no way shape or form a fashionista, and frankly the clothes in Topshop are either not my style or out of my budget. Their colour cosmetics range on the other hand, is absolutely chock full of gems at surprisingly affordable prices.

Having bought a fair few Topshop make-up bits before, I knew you could get fair bang for your buck. But when Sheenie surprised me by actually giving me aforementioned £50 voucher* (knows how to treat a woman, that one!), I was still quite surprised by the amount of things I managed to add to my basket. Check ’em out:

Eye Palette in Game On (£12.50)
One of my absolute favourite make-up items is cream eyeshadow – it’s so versatile and a real staple in my arsenal to use as a base for powder eyeshadows. Along with classic silver and gold, there are also two quite unusual shades in here in the form of a denim blue and a rosy mauve. The texture isn’t dissimilar to Topshop’s revered Cream Blush – soft and creamy on application, drying down to a smudge-proof, unbudgeable finish.

Cream Blush in Morning Dew, Afternoon Tea and Head Over Heels (£6 each)
Speaking of the Cream Blushes, I couldn’t resist adding three more to my blush stash. I am a big fan of these, for the easy-to-work-with formula mentioned above along with the cute polkadot packaging, handy mirror for on-the-go touch ups and most of all, their ridiculously purse friendly price. I mean £6, really? It would be rude not to. Morning Dew, the peach shade, is the perfect colour for my pale skin to see me easily through Spring and Summer.

Lip Liner in Ceramic (£5)
For someone who owns an obscene amount of lipsticks, I definitely don’t own enough lip liners to pair with them. This nude shade is very close to my natural lip colour, perhaps a shade darker, which makes it an ideal base for nude lip colours to prolong their wear and prevent any feathering. If you don’t own a lip liner whose colour falls into the ‘my lips but better’ category, you definitely need one and if you’re fair like me, this might be a good bet.

Lip Bullet in Heartbeat (£8)
I think these twist-up Lip Bullets are quite a new addition to the Topshop range, and this gorgeous hybrid of coral, orange and a hint of red is my favourite of the shades available. Leaning neither too cool or too warm, this should suit most skintones and is as long-lasting as it is easy to apply, not to mention it packs a serious punch in the pigmentation stakes.

Sugar Skull Mini Wipes (£1.25 each)
More of a basket-filler than anything else, I think I underestimated how useful these would be for me. I am the sort of person who can’t walk past Boots without wandering in for a swatching session, so keeping some wipes in my bag at all times is infinitely handy and I don’t know why I didn’t do it before. These cute little packets are the perfect handbag size (who wants to lug a bulky pack of Johnsons baby wipes around every day?) and let’s be honest, the sugar skull design is pretty much a dealmaker.

That brought my basket total up to £46 – add on £4 for standard delivery and bam, that’s my £50 Topshop make-up splurge!

So, I’ll finish where I started: what would you buy with a £50 Topshop voucher?

  • I would spend my vouchers on decent haircare from feelunique, my hair is feeling a bit dull and frazzled and needs sorted oyt!

  • I would take myself to boots and run straight to the Chanel counter, where I woukd buy one of their rouge allure velvet lipsticks, the packaging of those lipsticks is simply exquisite and the quality is divine…!
I would then go over to the eyeshadows and buy one of their illusion D’OMBRE eyeshadows, they are so pretty, easy to apply and long lasting..!!!

I woukd collect my purchases and skip all the way home..!

  • I’ve been lusting after white jeans for a few years now, and think I’ll take the plunge this summer. So I would stick with Topshop and pick up white Baxter skinnies for £40, and a pair of aviator sunglasses at £10 to look super cool all summer 🙂

  • Oh wow… Mine would definitely have to go for Boots. Think of how much you could buy for £50!

I would get a couple of the nail varnishes from the Sinful Colours collection – I have a few already and they are such good value! Probably a nice coral colour and then their lilac shade, which is perfect (£2 x2).

I’d also get some Alpecin Caffeine Shampoo so my hair actually grows and I can do a nice fish tail plait in the summer, haha (£5.49).

Then I would buy the Flaming Rhino – Blackbirds Photo Album 6×4 80Photos for all the photos I will be taking (if we actually have a nice summer this year!) (£8).

Rimmel London Apocalips Lip Lacquer in Apocoliptic would also definitely be on the list – I want to see what the fuss is about! (£5)

Collection 2000 Intense Colour Supersoft Kohl Pencils in Bluebell – nice and cheap for a pop of colour 🙂 (£2)

I would treat myself to the Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour in l’eclatante, because I’ve always wanted to try a Chanel lipstick and the colour is gorgeous 🙂 (£25)

Then I would spend the remaining 50p on a packet of Fruit Pastilles or something because they are great 🙂

Sorry for the long entry! Boots is like heaven to me, haha.

  • Fab giveaway!

I need to try more Topshop makeup, that is for sure!

I would go to Boots and buy lots of makeup from Loreal, Max Factor, Maybelline and No 7 for my family members in Iran.

Since political and financial sanctions have been imposed on Iran, foreign goods are very expensive – 2 or 3 times the price of what we pay in the UK. They are simply out of reach for most of my family, so I would love to treat them.

They, like me are massive fans of beauty and makeup products 🙂

    Good luck everyone! xxx

  • I would head straight to Boots and treat myself to my first every Chanel nail polish – Paradoxal (major lemming but at the moment I can’t justify the expense!), and when I got it home I would savour the amazing application and colour that everyone has talked about!

With the rest I would treat myself to some other polishes, the new Barry M Gellys are calling my name, and some pampering, indulgent products to spoil myself for the first time since becoming a carer for my brother-in-law recovering from a major trauma!

I would also send everyone I know to your blog, to thank you!

  • I would spend it on my grandaughter’s birthday present as she is just at the age where she appreciates all kinds of lovey pampering treats and we can have great fun together!

  • I would treat my daughter to a shopping spree at Top Shop , she is just at the age where clothes are a big deal and I would love to be able to ay go on get what you want rather than having to worry about cost !

  • I would prob end up spending it on my children….make up fpr my 14 yr old and nappies for my little uns

  • Well, so much to choose, where shall I start?
Now, off to the shops I shall depart,
Window shopping, all the lovely things!
Fifty pounds to spend, how my heart sings.

First spend is a maxi dress for me,
    Something gorgeous and extraordinary,
Not exciting but my wardrobe’s bare,
And I really have nothing to wear!

  • I’m currently losing weight and so I would spend £50 on some new clothes for work, my clothes are now starting to get too big so I definitely need a new wardrobe

  • Thank you for the great Giveaway. I would spend £50 on Summer wear from Asos as I need a new look and wardrobe.

  • My daughter really doesn’t have very long
To turn from student duckling to professional swan.
I’d spend an ASOS voucher on the transformation
And look forward to the stylish revelation.

If I won I would definitely buy these culottes from Asos. In fact, I am going to buy them anyway. I have just found them and I love culottes as they are so wearable and they have not been about for ages. They are great for holidays and especially on windy days. They give a great up to date look and suit all ages.

  • I would give the voucher to my daughter in law, she has just gone down a shoe size and could do with a bit help replacing her entire collection of shoes.

  • i would spend my voucher on some nice nail polish from feelunique.com for the summer i would also buy some nice hair product and a bit of summer make up 🙂

  • Some skater dresses – one of the few styles in Topshop I can pull off as a 32 year old mum!

  • I’d proberly pick a feel unique voucher and buy myself a fancy eye cream so i can try and fight of those ‘fine lines’ for a bit longer.

  • This is my Boots wishlist:

No7 Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser £11.50
I have used this for years and would not be without it!

Badedas Essence Bath Gelee 750ml £12.99
I am a lady of a certain age and have never forgotten the advert “things happen after a Badedas Bath”. But seriously, this is good bubble bath and a bottle will last longer than you can imagine. Just as you want the things that happen after a Badedas Bath to last 😉

James Bond 007 Eau de Toilette – Gold 50ml Limited Edition Online Exclusive – £25
Finally, after preparing myself with a Badedas Bath I would want my man to smell lovely for the things that happen after……

  • I love the Freedom Jewellery from Top Shop. People always remark on it whenever I wear any. I particularly like the Mixed Bugs Collar which is £22.50 and matching bug brooch which is £10. On a bug theme, I’m sure my daughter would love a couple of the Ladybird stretch bracelets which are £8.50 each.

  • I would love a feelunique voucher as I have had my eye on some posh Philip Kingsley shampoo and conditioner. In fact I have saved it my wishlist ever hopeful – the only thing is its so very expensive and a luxury item that my hair desperately needs but I just cant quite justify it! So this would make my hair and me very happy!

  • I’d treat my mum to afternoon tea, she needs a break and a sweet treat! ( can’t we all!!)

  • An ASOS voucher would let me make a start on a smart ‘work clothes’ wardrobe as I’m about to start looking for work soon! EEEEK!

  • I’d spend it on something colourful! I’ve mostly only worn black (even in summer), since I was about 15… I need anything colourful!! 😀

  • I had a beautiful baby girl 8 weeks ago, and in being a busy Mummy I may have let my appearance go for more of an ‘au natural’ look! I would love to get a new outfit which has not been tarnished with baby sick so I feel good about myself 🙂
