A quick non-polish related post.
It was recently brought to my attention that a Canadian beauty website was managing to reproduce blog posts that have been published here. The site in question was backdating everything they stole, making it look like Sheenie and I were the ones that were copying the posts, when of course, they originated here.
This theft is not the work of a cheeky ligger trying to “earn” points to score themselves a designer bag (yes, Luuux, I am talking about you) but rather the work of some sort of sophisticated bot software that attaches itself to a site it likes, and copies and pastes entire blog posts for reproduction elsewhere. A bit more complex than your average “right clicker” thief.
Posts on other sites that do not credit back to us will never be permitted by Sheenie and I, and we have not been syndicating our work. It infuriates us that thieves are earning advertising revenue from our hard work. We don’t make any money from this blog, so why should someone else do so? Despite what some people think, blogging IS hard work and being ripped off incessantly is extremely irritating.
I have emailed the site in question, who promise to respond to allegations of intellectual property theft within seven days. So let’s see what happens. I am extremely grateful to the person who highlighted this to me, and would ask that if any of you happen to spot our hands on a site other than this one, that you let us know. This type of blog theft is rife at the moment and is only going to get worse.
Sheenie and I are also adding a disclaimer link about the origin of our work to the bottom of all of our posts moving forward as these bots don’t seem capable of editing the items that they steal. So if you see this notice on the bottom of new posts, this is the reason.
And now, back to business!

Hope you get it sorted. Jan x
How horrid for you – I hope it gets resolved soon. I’ve noticed a lot of hits on my blog from Burnaby, British Columbia in Canada and it seems to be from a bot too as there are so many hits per day, one after the other, but not sure what it’s about or where it’s from. Maybe it’s only trawling my blog for email addresses, hopefully not anything worse!
Helen, in this case, I would recommend filling out a legal DMCA form. http://www.google.com/dmca.html. When posts of mine and two other bloggers were being stolen and copied using this type of software, the response was immediate. The site was pulled in 24 hours.
I am sorry you are dealing with this. It’s so frustrating and time consuming.
Wow, I had no idea that this sort of thing was going on. How awful. I know how much hard work you girls put into this blog, I hope you manage to get things sorted x
I would suggest adding a creative commons licence to the blog as well to further asert your copyright and state exactly what you will and will not permit otyhers to do with your work
