Gillette Venus Spa Breeze

Finally we’re getting some sunshine and this means it’s time to bring your legs out of hiding.  You’re also drastically reminded of what lengths you have to go to, to rid yourself of the ugly growth  that lurks beneath your clothes.

I tend to favour methods of hair removal that promise 3-4 weeks of no fuzz but as I swim regularly, it means waiting for the next waxing session is not an option.  Mind you, I have noticed something pleasantly strange about my hair growth on my legs.  I would wax for lasting results.  Now I shave probably twice a week because the hair growth has bizarrely slowed down and is very minimal and fine.  I am well aware regular waxing achieves those results but shaving is having that effect on me and without the messiness.  I wonder if this is the result of the laser treatment I had some months ago…

Any way, tomorrow 50 lengths in the pool beckons and so I’d better banish the stubble with the newest offering from Gillette – their Venus Spa Breeze, which I’ve been kindly sent to try.

The pack contains two cartridges with triple blades combined with shave gel bars, hence the 2 in 1 feature.  To use, it glides smoothly and the pivoting head makes it convenient to reach the trickier areas like the back of the knees.

Hands up who’s cut themselves unintentionally through wet shaving?  I used to get a few nicks but one had so much blood gushing out that I nearly passed out, and yes it always happened with a fresh, new blade.  I am relieved to say that isn’t the case any more, and I would hazard a guess this is due to the improvement on the blades and heads.

The Spa Breeze blade also boasts a subtle scent of white tea.  What does white tea smell of?  Not of  the milky caffeinated hot beverage, I hope.  I am not sure if it enhances the experience as body lotions usually do the job.

Elsewhere the gel bars didn’t moisturise my legs but left them quite dry though they were silky smooth.  The blade also worked a treat on the underarms.  Yes, I still have to shave the patchy growth that reappears, which reminds me I must book myself in for a top-up laser treatment this summer.  (It’s something you’re recommended to do once a year.)

It’s a breeze (sorry) to use and the whole thing takes less than two minutes.  A winner!

Gillette Venus Spa Breeze retails at £7.99 and is available at most chemists and high street shops.  For more information, visit www.gillettevenus.com/uk.

  1. My sad, pale, dry legs. Oh, dear.
I prefer men’s razors tbh. I like to get brutal!
Mind you, this looks nice and chunky and rubbery.

  2. I’ve never used men’s razors! How do they differ? Yes, the handle has a good grip. I don’t like those multi-packs of cheap disposal blades. They look like they could kill!

  3. i *love* this! i absolutely hate shaving, and can get perfectly smooth legs (after going a few weeks) in minutes.
i, too, get that odd dryness under the smooth legs. crap for moisturizing, but great for shaving.

  4. I was in my local Asda today and they had this particular razor on special offer at £2! Including the cartridges. I should have stocked up!
