Illamasqua Force - Just Nice Things

Illamasqua Force

Read Time:2 Minute, 31 Second

So unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last few weeks, you’ll be aware that Illamasqua have launched their new collection, Body Electrics. Here are some of my favourite photos from the new campaign. Not only is the make-up fantastic, as you’d expect from Alex Box, but check out the nails, which I believe were  done by artist extraordinaire, Sophy Robson.

You can also check out a behind the scenes video here. Now, on to the nails…

There are three nail varnishes in the new collection, which excited me as you all know I love Illamasqua’s nail products, and secondarily, having seen the shimmery body oils used on the models when we went to the House of Blue Eyes show during London Fashion Week, I’d kind of presumed that Body Electrics was going to be mainly about make-up for the body.

Force is a very bright blue creme  polish. Initially in the promo shots I wasn’t overly excited about it as it doesn’t seem vastly different to other blue polishes I have, such as OPI Dating A Royal, or Nails Inc The Royal Court. And, in all honesty, it isn’t really.

This isn’t to detract from the fact that it is a lovely nail varnish. And it isn’t an exact dupe by any means, as Force has a lovely dusky cornflower element to it, although it does dry brighter and more vibrant than it initially applies.

The usual Illamasqua two-coat rule applies here. It did seem ever so slightly thicker than other polishes I have tried by them, and the drying time was more slow than others (I seem to recall Obsess from the Dystopia collection being dry in moments).

To me, Force is a lovely shade of royal blue that has trademark Illamasqua quality all over it. The brush is excellent and the polish is extremely pigmented. Indeed it is pigmented to the point that you definitely need a decent base coat before applying Force as like a lot of pigmented blue cremes, it’s a stainer.

I’m really pleased that Illamasqua keep releasing excellent collections and quality products and I absolutely adore the artwork and promotional images that they continually come up with. I was meant to be attending the launch of Body Electrics in London but sadly it was cancelled due to the train strikes.

OK, so Force might not be the most exciting colour that Illamasqua have ever done, but that doesn’t mean that there is anything wrong with it at all. If you have either of the aforementioned shades, or aren’t an avid Illamasqua collector, then you probably don’t need this one. Indeed, if you have a gap in your collection for a royal blue nail varnish then I’d heartily recommend this one.

Force retails at £13.00 and was sent to me by Illamasqua for review. All the Body Electrics promotional images are also published here courtesy of Illamasqua. Click here to see the rest of the range and to make a purchase.

I think I’m going to pass on this one and get the lilac, this is a bit too blue for me (if that makes sense!)

By the way, their polishes have been £13 for a while now, just in case anyone queries it

OK, but not outstanding. Deffo not worth 13 of my pounds. I can get 3 China Glaze for that!

This blue is gorgeous, truly amazing!

Andrea: Yes – it is very, very blue! And I agree with you – I have ordered the lilac one as I am really excited about trying it out. Coming soon!

Jen – You may be right. For what it is, it’s lovely but nothing with that novelty factor that I like.

Jackie – Hi and thankyou for commenting. It is really bright! Glad you like it.

Looks amazing on you. I love this shade of blue. I’m pretty sure I have something like this. Might not be a dupe but it’s close enough. Beautiful shade of blue. The makeup is amazing. I’d love to go out just to do some food shopping made up like that. Would be fun.

This one is an eye-opener but that is precisely what Illamasqua is about. I don’t think I have seen any dupes of their nail polishes and this is another one that is like no other. I can’t wait to see which new colours they pick from the competition they ran recently to design your own shade.

  9. […] Body Electrics – contains three nail polishes, two of which Helen’s reviewed (Prism and Force).  The third is this warm purple creme called JoMina.  And it’s a doll of a polish.  […]
